Counselling

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling is, at its heart, a relationship. It's a regular, protected space to think out loud, be heard without judgement, and feel met with understanding, warmth and care. Over the course of our sessions together we'll explore what's troubling you, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and find your way towards what feels right for you. You don't need to arrive with the right words or a clear goal - all you need to bring is a willingness to start the conversation.

Our online or telephone sessions

I work online via Zoom, or over the telephone. In both spaces I provide a confidential, relaxed and supportive environment in which you can talk through the issues causing you difficulties or concerns.

Helen Bennett - Counselling

My role is to listen carefully, offer perspective when it's helpful, and walk alongside you as you make decisions or changes in your life, or come to terms with the things that can’t be changed.

I am practical, honest and friendly. I will not judge you but will accept and respect you - I believe you are the expert on your body and your issues. You have the ability to heal and grow. Counselling will help you develop the self-awareness, self-compassion, strength and focus to do this, when you feel ready.

Getting started

Join our online or telephone sessions from any quiet space that feels safe, where you won’t be overheard and you can access a good internet connection or phone signal.

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long. They usually take place weekly on the same day at the same time, but can be more or less frequent depending on your needs. I am able to work on a more flexible basis with clients who have busy diaries or who are unable to commit to weekly sessions. You will book and manage your counselling sessions via my Calendly booking system to ensure they work with your schedule. A booking link will be provided to you following our introductory call.

Most people work with me on an open-ended basis for as long as they feel they need, but some people find a fixed number of counselling sessions is more appropriate. You may find you come for just a few sessions and then feel ready to stop, whilst others may come to counselling long-term. This is something we can agree together at the start and reassess regularly as your counselling progresses.

Introductory call

It is important to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with and who is the right fit for you, so I offer a free telephone or Zoom consultation to discuss why you are seeking counselling and how we might work together. Please get in touch to arrange your free 30-minute introductory call.
